The United States Postal Service [USPS] API is commonly used by Magento eCommerce agencies and merchants around the globe for calculating USPS postal rates. The USPS has released an update to its postal rates API effective 24 January 2014. These details on the API changes are provided on the USPS website.
As these changes were being announced, Magento reviewed and tested the proposed changes with the latest versions of Magento Enterprise Edition, Magento Community Edition, and Magento Go. According to the results obtained from these tests, it is not expected that Magento Merchants will experience any issues with the AP update.
While the API changes won’t disrupt existing services, they will cause a previously announced price change increase, as well as changes to some of the services offered. Accordingly, some of the changes are documented as below:
