According to the 2014 IR Top 500 Guide, Magento has overtaken Demandware to join Oracle and IBM as the top three provider to the top 500 internet retailers in the United States as well as Canada. As you will know, the IR Top 500 guide provides a wealth of information and exclusive competitive data along with valuable insights on how online retailers could grow their business in an increasingly crowded e-retailing sphere. In the latest IR Top 500 list, Magento has 34 merchants, which is double the number of merchants from the 2013 list. The list of Magento clients include marquee brands such as COACH as well as fast-growing brands and retailers such as Alex and Ani, Zumiez, and Signature Hardware.
According to Roy Rubin, Co-Founder and COO of Magento, the doubling of Magento’s presence in the IR Top 500 is a great advance. It clearly demonstrates the ability of Magento’s products to scale in order to support the merchants who are doing hundreds of millions of dollars in online revenue.
For mid-market merchants, which is defined by Internet Retailer as those with $20M – $75M in online sales, Magento products are now the top platforms. In 2013, Magento had 13 mid-market merchants on the list. Now this has grown to 24 in 2014, which has overtaken Oracle in the top spot in this segment. Along with eBay’s Enterprise Commerce Platform, platforms owned by eBay have extended their lead as the top provider to mid-market merchants.
With a total of 57 merchants, the two platforms combined, have put eBay Enterprise second only to Oracle, on the 2014 IR Top 500. According to Mark Lavelle, who is the SVP of Strategy and Product of eBAy Enterprise, the advance in their position on the IR Top 500 is further evidence of the power as well as the momentum of our combined commerce solutions as well as expertise that is backed by the resources of eBay. He further added that beyond this important benchmark, eBay Enterprise is clearly becoming the clear partner of choice, which will never compete with you for a vast as well as growing number of SMB’s mid-market and enterprise merchants across the world.
