- 30+ cross-site scripting (XSS) and remote code execution vulnerabilities were closed. Although no such attacks were recorded to date, Magento has fixed vulnerabilities that could have been potentially exploited to access customer information or take over administrator sessions.
- Other security enhancements include the removal of custom layout updates and the discontinuation of layout updates to make Remote Code Execution (RCE) obsolete.
- Content template features have been redesigned so that only whitelisted variables can be added to the templates.
Platform Upgrades:
With every release, Magento brings together significant platform upgrades to enhance website security and Payment card industry (PCI) compliance. Few of the significant upgrades that come along with Magento 2.3.4 include:
- The latest release of RabbitMQ (v3.8) — a third-party technology underlying the Magento message queue framework — is now supported.
- Magento 2.3.4 has been tested on the latest release of Redis v5.0.6. This means improved page caching and session storage.
- Support for MariaDB has been improved.
- Authorize.net payment has been discontinued. However, you can still use the official payment integration that’s available on the marketplace.
Performance Optimizations:
Magento consistently pushes the platform’s limits to provide the users groundbreaking performance all round. With this release, Magento has made some remarkable improvements in the performance. A few significant boosts include:
- The inessential non-cached requests to the server on catalog pages have been removed.
- PHTML files have been refactored.
- Now admins can easily disable statistic collecting for Reports module.
Other Improvements:
Apart from the performance and security upgrades, Magento has improved everything starting from the infrastructure to merchant tool and inventory management. Here are a few significant improvements:
Infrastructure: There are over 250 core quality enhancements to improve the quality of the framework.
Merchant tool: Adobe Stock galleries have now been integrated into Magento Admin. This will allow admins to add high-quality media to their site without leading the admin panel. They can also search, explore, preview, license and deploy stock images with just a few clicks.
Inventory Management:
- Improved overall performance.
- The Inventory Reservations CLI command has been updated.
- Resolved multiple quality issues.
